Great coffee at a good price, and very close to the convention center. Ignore the construction and try it!

Kitty's has some great flavored coffees, such as the Highlander Grogg, creme brule and southern pecan. The espresso is also especially good as well. Not to mention, the baked goods, such as banana nut and zucchini breads, are excellent. It's only slightly cheaper than Starbucks. Have to say, though, the baristas can be kind of gross. Recently, the guy working was washing dishes when I came up to order coffee at the open-air, Atrium location. Dude didn't dry his hands when he made my coffee and handed me a wet coffee cup with a wet lid. Grossed me out, explained that to him and asked for a new cup and he got offended. I've had a lot of good experiences here, but this one bad experience has turned me off the place for awhile. Otherwise, generally recommend, but have found that Starbucks gives me a more consistently good experience due to the training and disposition of their baristas.

I had tried Kitty's Coffee (in the Atrium) many years ago, and unfortunately, didn't like it the taste. So today, I decided to give it another try. "Second verse, same as the first..."
Menu: Kitty's Coffee offers a "Daily Brew", which has about 4 options, in addition to a few other cold/hot selections. I chose the "El Salvador", which is a medium roast.
Coffee: The El Salvador arrive piping hot, which is a plus. However, the taste of the coffee wasn't good. In fact, it was just as bitter (with a bitter finish) as it was when I had first tried Kitty's Coffee.
Atmosphere: I went to the Kitty's Coffee location in the Mercantile building. The setup is small with stools near a counter, along with tables and chairs outside the coffee shop itself. I like the shop's soothing decor.
Service: Although the woman who waited on me answered my questions about the coffee selections, she acted like she didn't want to be there, or had something better to do. I take my morning coffee very seriously and always want to get something I would enjoy. Sad part is, there wasn't a line in front or behind me, so I'm not sure what the rush was for.
Summary: I like the decor...but sadly, that's the only thing. A coffee shop should not only have a decent selection of coffee...it should have good coffee as well. I wish I could recommend Kitty's Coffee to others, but out of good conscious (and taste), I just can't. -

Wow, what a gem! Fountain Square Mercantile Building is fortunate to have such a wonderful coffee shop nestled on the first floor.
Ambiance tells you that they care about their customers as their selections for their menu are curated for the right amount of indulgence, flavor, and wellness.
I tried the dark chocolate, walnut, banana bread and it was filling, not too sweet, and very well balanced. I got a dirty chai latte which was served at the perfect temperature - just hot enough to be drink ready by the time you get to your destination. Mine was five feet from the counter where I set up my computer and notebook while I waited for a friend.
As I sat here there were many return customers who ordered delicious sounding, hot sandwiches. Service for them was swift and many were in and out the door and on their way in moments- I could see them make the sandwiches fresh so that is impressive.
The employees are sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. I even got a little bonus shake that they make. Everything I tasted was impeccable! Make sure you swing by if you want coffee, smoothie, shake, lemonade (flavored optional including lavender ) , sandwich, salad, soup, or standard coffee partner like muffins biscotti, and breads.
Can't wait to see what is new when I make my way downtown again. -

Kitty's has a little open air kiosk in the Atrium building on 4th Street in addition to its shop in the Mercantile Building. This review focuses on the Atrium location.
Whenever I want coffee at work, I head to Kitty's. The coffee is full of flavor and the service is quick, even when there's a hefty line. I like reviewing them on Square whenever I get my receipt in my inbox because it reminds me that I've always had a pleasant experience frequenting their counter. I don't do fancy coffee drinks; I just get regular blend black coffee and it's always delicious. It has the right amount of caffeine in it, too, so it gets me going faster in the morning without the jitters. Their kiosk is set up nicely and everything looks clean. The baristas are friendly and seem to be working hard whenever I walk past. I love that they're open early because I'm never waiting for them to open to get my drink.
Not sure why anyone would waste their money at Starbucks when Kitty's is in the same lobby. Support local because they're great. If you're on 4th Street and want a great, fast cup of coffee, pop in and give them your business. You won't regret it.
